How I feel about the Blake Griffin trade

As you may have heard Blake Griffin was traded to the Pistons along with Willie Reed, and Brice Johnson. Going to the Clippers is Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley Boban Marjonavic, a 2018 First round pick and a 2018 Second rounder.

You may hear people say that this trade was a steal for the Pistons or that the Clippers didn’t get enough for Griffin. You may also hear that the Clippers traded Griffin so that they could sign LeBron. They think this because it was rumoured that LeBron's free agent destination will be Los Angeles, but most likely the Lakers.  But what people are forgetting is that LeBron was rumoured to go to the Lakers because it would secure the part of his career after he was done playing (which would be ownership, coaching or being a GM). But this probably wouldn’t still be the case with the Clippers, so I think that is out of the question.

As for the Pistons side of the trade, I think its terrible because if the Pelicans have taught us anything it’s that  first off a big man duo isn’t sustainable, and that even with debatably the best two big men in the league (Demarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis) they aren’t even a contender so really I think this is just a trade to fill seats for the Pistons.

As for the Clippers, I love this trade because they traded older stars and big contracts, and in return got young talent and picks. At the end of the line Blake Griffin And Deandre Jordan wouldn’t come close to competing for a title and would end up in no man’s land as I like to call where they aren’t contenders and won’t be getting lottery picks. As for their future I see them trading Deandre Jordan for more talent and picks maybe to somewhere like the Rockets to old play with his old teammate Chris Paul and help them compete for a title.

At the end of the day I would mark the Clippers as the winner and the Pistons as the losers, but this could change if the Pistons pull more piece together and begin to compete for a title.

What team should trade for Kemba Walker.

This season Kemba Walker is on the trading block. We will go over four teams that should trade for Kemba and how they could trade for him.

San Antonio Spurs

I think that Kemba and the Spurs would go together perfectly. I think that this is the best match between a player on the trading block and team, because right now if the Spurs do nothing to change their roster they won’t be able to compete over the Warriors but will always get a low pick in the draft. So I believe this trade is dependent on if the Spurs believe that Dejounte Murray is the player for the future, which I don’t think he is. I believe that with their current roster and reports that Kawhi Leonard is frustrated with his team that the Spurs should recognize that this could be their last real championship roster. As for the trade itself I believe that the Spurs could package, Patty Mills, Dejounte Murray, and a first round pick. I think that Kemba could easily adapt and they could run a big ball sort of basketball which the Warriors have been struggling to defend against. That could allow the Spur to make a championship run if they beat the Warriors.

Philadelphia 76ers

The 76ers have the need for an experienced player like Kemba Walker to lead their younger players and help with their development. Kemba Walker would fit well with the young up and coming stars on the 76ers. My only take away is that they would have to move either Kemba or Fultz to the two which wouldn't be good for either of their development. As for the trade I think I could go along the lines of T.J McConnell and some first round picks. I think the 76ers would be willing to give up these picks because with Kemba Walker and their up and coming stars they will start to pick up wins and make their picks less valuable.

Phoenix Suns

Phoenix Suns is a team going through a tough rebuild and I think they should start cashing in and it starts with Kemba Walker. Kemba would fit in very nicely, he could fill the hole that Eric Bledsoe left. Kemba would fit in well with the way the Suns have been running their organization, Plus recently ESPN ranked him as the 18 best point guard defender and I think he could pass on his defensive knowledge to the young guns on the Suns. Also they have been rebuilding since Steve Nash left. At this point they have potential stars such as Devin Booker, Josh Jackson, Marquese Chriss, and somewhat Brandon Knight. With all these prospects you’d have to imagine that at least two will become stars, I mean Devin Booker is already developing into a star. As for Kemba on their roster he would take Brandon Knight’s role which would move Tyler Ulis probably to a point. He won’t get minutes which may make Tyler unhappy, but my solution comes in the trade. I think that Brandon Knight is in his eighth season and looks to be just an average starter or role player. So I think they could package Brandon Knight with Jarred Dudley or Isaiah Cannan  and a 2021 first and a 2022 Second. I think this would work for the Suns because Knight would have to play off the bench if they bring Kemba, which may upset Knight. It’s possible he would just walk and then the Suns wouldn’t get value for him. As for the picks they are almost perfect because they will be late picks. In the next three years the Sun's prospects will have developed and be at the middle of the pack which will devalue those picks. Without another star like Kemba I don’t know if they’ll be able to compete with the future dynasty such as the Timberwolves and Knicks. Kemba would solidify the Sun's as the next big thing after the Warriors dynasty is over.

Minnesota Timberwolves

As for the Timberwolves they are the team I believe are the least likely to trade for Kemba. I think this is true because they have just recently gotten Jamal Crawford and Jeff Teague. But I think that Jeff Teague is the kind of player that could win a sixth man of the year award. Teague is the type of player that could lead the second unit with his experience and skill. I think they are a future dynasty as I said but it seems they are missing that elite point guard that could control the pace of the game and run in transition with Karl Anthony-Towns and Andrew Wiggins. I feel that Kemba would just push them over the top to give them what could be four all-stars and almost guarantee them a bright future. The trade would go something along the line of Jamal Crawford or Tyus Jones, Nemanja Bjelica  and two first rounder and a second rounder.

As for the Hornets in all of this I know that Micheal Jordan said he would only consider trading  Kemba Walker but he has to understand that he might just walk as a free agent this season. So that’s why some of these trades may seem not as good for the Hornets. If I’m the Hornets I know at this point Kemba won’t want to play on a lackluster team for his whole career and I’m going to try to get any value I can out of Kemba Walker. Right now with the roster they currently have I don’t think their close to being contenders, but not bad enough to get lottery picks. So over all I think these are the four teams that could best utilize Kemba Walkers talent.
